Inspiring the Next Generation of Aviators: ALAS Foundation's First Aviation Field Trip

A milestone for the ALAS Foundation and a memorable day for B.E.E. Microschool students in Yuma, Arizona.

The ALAS Foundation proudly celebrated an exciting milestone as we welcomed students from B.E.E. Microschool for our very first aviation educational field trip at Yuma International Airport!

What began as a vision to make aviation more accessible to young learners became a day filled with curiosity, excitement, and hands-on discovery.

Through the incredible support and collaboration of Million Air Yuma and Piedmont Airlines, students had the unique opportunity to explore the world of aviation beyond the classroom, gaining firsthand exposure to the people, equipment, and operations that keep our aviation industry moving.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Throughout the experience, students explored different aspects of airport operations and discovered that aviation offers far more career opportunities than simply becoming a pilot.

From learning about aircraft and airport ground operations to exploring the passenger terminal and seeing aviation equipment up close, students were introduced to the many professionals who make air travel possible.

One of the highlights was watching students experience the excitement of sitting inside an aircraft and imagining themselves in the cockpit someday.

These moments represent exactly why the ALAS Foundation exists: to create opportunities for young people to see possibilities they may never have considered before.

Made Possible Through Community Partnerships

We extend our sincere gratitude to Million Air Yuma for opening its doors, sharing its expertise, and providing students with an engaging, behind-the-scenes look at general aviation and ground support operations.

We are equally grateful to Piedmont Airlines for its collaboration and continued support of aviation education and career awareness.

Partnerships like these demonstrate the extraordinary impact that local businesses and aviation professionals can have when they invest their time and resources in the next generation.

Our First Field Trip, but Certainly Not Our Last!

This experience marks the beginning of something much bigger for the ALAS Foundation.

Our mission is to expand access to aviation education, mentorship, scholarships, and meaningful career exploration opportunities for students throughout Yuma County.

By connecting classrooms with real-world aviation experiences, we hope to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and introduce young learners to pathways they might one day pursue.

To B.E.E. Microschool, thank you for allowing us to share our passion for aviation with your students. To Million Air Yuma and Piedmont Airlines, thank you for helping us turn this vision into reality.

The future of aviation begins with exposure, opportunity, and a little inspiration.

And for the ALAS Foundation, we're just getting started!
